Wireless Wifi systems

WiFi short  for "wireless fidelity" networks have become virtually omnipresent.  Today, the road warrior can connect with his or her office from their hotel, coffee shop, airports, or even some fast food restaurants.  O-MC Signal Research, Inc. has been on the forfront of the technology for the past several years. We design and install networks using the IEEE 802.11 a, b, & g standards, and have tested the IEEE 802.11n standard in one venue.  Today, a laptop computer with a built in WiFi chip allows the user to keep tabs with either business or personal activities.

WiFi technology can also be used to bridge Ethernet activity over broad areas of coverage.  We have installed IEEE 802.11g hardware that provides connectivity from an access point in one building to a wireless bridge in a distant facility.  The access point is connected directly to an external high-gain Yagi antenna.  The signal from the Yagi antenna is picked up by the wireless bridge in the distant facility which connects via Ethernet to a wired switch network.  Thus allowing all of the workers in the distant facility to have access to data throughout the entire extended network.

Americans have become accustomed to having their mobile phones work where ever they go. Yet it is not surprising to most New Yorkers that their phone will offer only minimal or sporadic service in most buildings within the five boroughs of New York, and indeed the greater metropolitan area.
